See the wonders of Alberobello, Italy

Italy is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and for good reason. It has modern cities, but also some famous historical landmarks. Where else can you enjoy some of the best coffee in the world in a relaxing café, and then explore the Coliseum? The food of course is exceptional, and a big part of the experience. While Rome gets most of the attention, there are other parts of the country that are wonderful to visit. Alberobello is one such destination.

Alberobello is located in the southeast peninsula of Italy, with coast on its northern border. It is not a major city, only containing a little more than 10,000 people as of the last census. It’s about a five hour car ride from Rome, with Naples about halfway between the two. It’s in the Apulia region, within the Bari province.

The main attraction of Alberobello is its many Trulli. These are small domed houses, some of which date back to the 14th century. Because Alberobello’s only homes are Trulli, it’s been declared a World Heritage Site. With its unique and uniform architecture, this town is definitely a one-of-a-kind location in the world. They do have a museum you can visit, along with seasonal concerts and workshops. There is a train that goes to Alberobello, so it’s accessible even if you don’t have a car available for the journey, or want to skip the bus. No matter what, it’s a wonderful stop to make if you ever find yourself in Italy.
