What is the History of the Fourth of July?

We observe American Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year. We consider July 4, 1776, as a day that speaks about the Declaration of Independence and the introduction of the United States of America as an autonomous country. July 4, 1776 was not actually the day that the Continental Congress chose to proclaim the freedom of America. It took place on July 2, 1776. July 4, 1776 was not actually the day that the Continental Congress chose to proclaim the freedom of America. It took place on July 2, 1776. July 4 was also not the day the American Revolution began for it took place in April of 1775.

What transpired on July 4, 1776 was the endorsement of the Continental Congress of the last wording of the Declaration of Independence. This endorsement had to be dealt with for quite some time. They had to edit a few words and it was only finalized on July 2. However, it was on July 4, 1776 that the hardcopy of the Declaration of Independence was printed and circulated to the entire nation.

The Fourth of July festivities turned out to be a yearly affair as the years went on. Sometime in 1870, right around a hundred years after the Declaration was composed; Congress announced that July 4 would be a national occasion. Its celebration is an integral part of a bill that recognizes national occasions.

The Fourth of July is celebrated by American by hanging the American flag, dressing up in a way that expresses love for the country, watching a local parade with 4th of July theme and enjoying the festivities with family and friends.
